YouTube's Failure to Block Video Gets Google Chief Arrested

When video sharing site YouTube refused to block a video that depicts incendiary comments about a Brazilian elected official it caused a real stink. As a result of the site refusing to block the video Brazilian Google chief Fabio Jose Silva Coelho was arrested in Sao Paulo for the site allegedly breaching Brazilian Laws. Apparently the laws regarding politically motivated content in Brazil are very strict.

The arrest eventually led YouTube to have to relent and block the video from being available in Brazil. YouTube also apparently receives a large quantity of requests to remove such videos because what can be said about electoral candidates in Brazil is limited. This is just the latest in a long line of controversial postings that YouTube has been asked to remove and has even been legally challenged over.
